Above Left: In Strange Bedfellows II, a teardrop of Vermont Schist holds a garnet tight in it's natural grip. Distressed oxidized sterling silver bezel provides understated background for this intriguing stone pendant, and more garnets embellish the chain. Above Right: Pink Party spotlights a cobalt calcite drusy, bezel-set in sterling, with a lustrous Tahitian pearl set right below. The beaded necklace is multicolor tourmaline, and freshwater pearls.
Above left: Seafoam combines flawless gem-quality flourite in hues of lavendar, green and blue with tiny pearls and 18k beads for a stunning, classic look, gold fllled magnetic clasp. Above right: In Twins, graduated, faceted Ruby beads are anchored with a 14k gold bar, perfect to set up two fabulous hand-faceted Tourmaline nuggets. 14k gold filled magnetic clasp.
Above left: Brilliant blue Brazilian Aquamarine chunks are flanked by golden crystal opal rondelles in this gap necklace, AquaOpal Delight. The golden opals flash blue, and perfectly integrate the aquamarine with the 18k gold chain. .Above right: Kozebi has a rutilated quartz drop as centerpiece of this cascade of white and gold-leafed keshi pearls, rutilated quartz and 14k gold beads. Balanced, without symmetry - finished with a 14k clasp. Above right: In Tilly, Italian branch coral contrasts beautifully with kyanite for a look that goes as well with jeans as it does with evening wear. 14k gold-filled adjustable toggle.
Druse Drops:
This is a design we create using several different kinds of druses, paired with briolettes in colors and stones that enhance and highlight the drop. We show two of our most popular combinations. Above left: Zirconium/Silver coated druse is topped with a cluster of labradorite and chalcedony faceted briolettes. Above right: In Titanium coated druse, the colors of Peridot, Garnet, and Amethyst are brought out by their faceted briolettes topping the stone. Since the stones are paramount, we complete them with very delicate neckwires and easily secured magnetic clasps.
Jellyfish!!!
We're Californian, mostly coastal (we also like our state's mountains, lakes and deserts - Yes!). One absolute treasure is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and one source of inspiration is the expanding Jellyfish exhibits. Watching these sublime creatures is the best form of calming therapy we know, so it's understandable that we have designed several pieces around the idea of jellyfish.
Most of our jellyfish necklaces use Larimar, because it is all about the sea (and it is a gorgeous color) and Amethyst/agate, slices of which lend themselves beautifully to the jellyfish form. Here are two examples, (we have others). Above Right: Cara: A gorgeous piece of Larimar floats languidly above tentacles of white keshi and freshwater pearls. . Right: Elita, an Amethyst/Agate slice is set, amethyst crystals dangling Amethyst briolettes adn sterling silver chains.
Bijoux Anciens:
These are our fossils...pyritized fossils, actually. We could go into detail about what they are, but it's easier if you just do a wikipedia search on Pyritized Fossil to understand how these once-slive critters have been transformed over millions of years from calcium-based material to metal. It's an extraordinary story, and these pieces are intriguing, beautiful, mysterious, and one-of-a-kind.
So check back soon to see more!
Above Right: Pyritized Fossil I This piece is so new, we haven't named it yet. However, it is a striking fossil, set onto a 16" sterling silver neckring and it is a conversation-starter. Above Right, Pyritized Fossil II: Another new piece, and a lousy photo too, (sorry). Stay tuned, we are creating, photographing and naming fossil pieces as you read this, so check back!
Most of these are one-of-a-kind...we cast new individual designs, find vintage pieces to rework, or find that one stone in a million that makes the piece.
Safari, Vintage carved bone is the perfect match for amethyst and creamy blonde chalcedony beads, with just a sparkle of tiny vermeil faceted beads. The clasp is carved bone (one only)
Minerva, We cast a sword in fine silver from a vintage 1940's era design, set into it a faceted Burmese ruby, and hung another 22 carat ruby drop from the sword's tip. Dramatic result! Sterling chain and clasp finish the 17" necklace
(Check back - we'll be trying this design with tanzanite!)
Artemis, Chrome diopside is a very hot stone these days. We like ours raw, which allows us to play off the variations of green with faceted tsavorite garnets and peridot bricks on this 14K gold 2-1 necklace. 14K gold beads and clasp
Tahitian and South Sea Pearls
We do a lot with pearls, and the designs are varied and distinctive. (We hate to say unique, because, really, what is unique? We make something today, tomorrow some other good artist borrows the design, and there you are. Liar. So we say "distinctive." Because they are. And it's less actionable, legally...)
Tahitian Icebergs: this strand of Tahitian pearls had a lustre that we had to enhance with a stone as dramatic as these cool, brilliant, rough aquamarines. With 18K gold clasp.
Love Pearl, 11mm Tahitian pearl on delicate sculptured 14K white or yellow gold heart, available with or without chain
